Start of Semester
1. How do you envision using art in your classroom?
I envision using art in my classroom in everyday classroom activities. I plan to have students draw pictures of what they are writing about. I also plan to have time set aside where students are allowed to be creative in their own way where they can grab items from a box and make something with it.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I don't have much knowledge on integrated learning but I think it has to do with integrating art, music, and physical fitness into everyday class lessons. When you incorporate art, music, or physical fitness in everyday lessons it helps the students to stay engaged.

My comfort level in making art is a 3. I really enjoy making crafts and doing hands on activities. I know there are lots of different forms of art but I am most comfortable with crafts.

My comfort level in analyzing and talking about art is a 2. I don't have any experience in analyzing or talking about art. I havent taken an art class since high school so I am a little rusty.

I plan to use the VTS method in my classroom. I envision letting my students have a creative area in the classroom where they are able to just do their own craft and make their own things. I want the students to feel comfortable with art.
2. What do you know about integrated learning / integration?
I have learned that there are so many ways to integrate music, art, and physical ed. into the core subject areas. I learned that when you integrate art into the core subjects it helps the students have a better understanding of the lesson. In my field class
my art teacher, music teacher, and classroom teacher co taught a lesson on the water cycle. The students made clouds in art and sang songs about the water cycle in music.
3. Rate your comfort level in making art, and discuss.

My comfort level in making art is a 4. Doing the studio's each week has helped me feel more comfortable with making art. At first I was worried that it wouldn't turn out how it is supposed to but once I started making it the worry went away. I also like that when I make art it doesn't have to fit some "correct way" and it is how I want it to look. I really like making art with crafts, quilts, and watercolor pencils!

My comfort level in analyzing and talking about art is a 3. Doing the student research paper on the piece of art helped me with analyzing art. I'm still not 100% comfortable analyzing student’s art because I feel like I need more experience with it. I feel more comfortable when talking about art because of VTS. When we went to the museum I felt comfortable talking and giving my input because I felt like I was in a safe environment. I felt like my answers to what I interpreted were not incorrect because everyone can have their own view.
